I have been going to Nantucket since 1966 . It is the only part of the island that retains some of the old island feeling that I fell in love with so please don't let it be destroyed.

Coastal erosion will dwarf all other issues, and will become over time existential for the island. The time to start is now.

I remain firmly convinced the Joe Farrell's proposal to sink his removable MAVs to capture the littoral drift along Smith Point, thereby creating and enhancing protective shoals warrants serious reconsideration. If the town could authorize trying it at Smith Point, where the study took place, and which is clearly an immediate concern, we might discover that it has the broad potential application to shore up other areas of erosion, such as the beaches which currently protect both major sewage treatment facilities as well as Sankaty Head.

If there were only a few houses or no natural beauty on Smith's Pt. then benign neglect would be OK. In this case we should plan for a short term wipeout of Millie's Bridge.

I agree with this petition as an immediate need- but there is a VERY BIG LONG TERM NEED to address the erosion issue on the South/West side of the island.

We support this petition. We use our home year round, to both enjoy the property and to preserve the upkeep of our home and beach. Access to our home for both us and the police, fire department and ambulances are critical. Please help!
