I've created this Petition to Lobby both federal and state governments for Fairer Access for Smokers on Campus'.

Firstly,
I am not a smoker (apart from the odd, fine, Cuban, Cigar).

I am greatly disturbed of the actions by the current government guidelines with regard to the excessive limitations of access to areas for those who choose to smoke (or even outright on campus BANS).

I study at Macquarie University and the current smoking areas allocated, around the North Ryde Campus, are discriminating, against those addicted to nicotine, to the extreme.

It appears that smokers, here at Macquarie (and I presume at other Campus'), are treated as second class citizens.

The current, over zealous, plan is making grand assumptions that all smokers are inconsiderate and they'll be spreading second hand smoke, willy-nilly, throughout the campus.

Smokers are well aware of the dangers involved both for themselves and others.

Smokers are, also, not a hoard of unthinking oafs but are simply addicts who are more than capable to make courteous choices in regards to where, and when, they smoke.

There is a plethora of available, wide open, spaces (with plenty of airflow) that would cause minimal, if any, harm to others.

It is time for a proper, rational, discussion in regards to smoking within the universities.
