Dear University of the Arts London facilities' team,

As members of the student representative community of University of the Arts London, we are writing this letter to raise your attention on a matter that, we believe, is not right and requires your immediate attention to be resolved.

During Easter the undergraduate students were away from university as holidays, as a result most facilities were closed or in a largely reduced service. This is an important point for us considering that, as postgraduate students, we don't have Easter or summer break and are consequently expected to work and submit projects.
We have been sold a 12-month course with no break. Within those 12 months, facilities we have been promised close for almost 2 months. Yet, we are still expected by our tutors and our directors to work during these holiday (30th of march - 24th of April or the whole of August) periods, when the facilities and help from services are not available. This was not what was advertised when we applied to the University of the Arts London.

We fully understand that the staff needs holidays and breaks. However as students and when it comes to it, customers of University of the Arts London, we expect that with the many thousand pounds we pay, we should be allowed to access the facilities and benefit from the services we have been sold during the entire time of the course we have paid for. One solution could be, for example, either employing freelance staff during those periods or alternating the staff's holidays.

Consequently, we request at least one college and library to be open during the whole of August with the facilities and services we need and have paid for.
