Lumin wasn't a consideration for us after our Montessori pre-school because we wanted our daughter to have a Montessori education that continued at least through 5th grade. When we heard Ms. Sylvie was going to be the director we we're completely torn what to do as she is an AMAZING facilitator of Montessori education. We love Lumin's diversity and community environment! Had Lumin had an upper elementary option we would have instantly made it a top consideration. Our public school children deserve to have more options for an upper elementary Montessori education as continuing in the second plane of Montessori life of 3rd-5th grade children is such a period of growth and change. I hope you will vote to expand the Lumin program. It would help so many children build on the life skills you have already provided them.

I would love to see Lumin Education expand to upper elementary. I think that more families would be interested in joining this truly wonderful community if instruction did not end in 3rd grade.

There are few Montessori options for Upper Elementary, and most are private schools, which are homogenous and expensive, or magnet schools, which are usually full by 4th grade. I would love for my children to continue with Montessori at Lumin since it is a diverse, public option that provides excellent instruction in a caring, thoughtful community environment.

I am a former potential parent at Lumin who cheers all expansion of Montessori in our area. We ultimately gave up our spot at Lumin to go to Mata, in part, because we knew Mata would go through upper el. With Mata expanding through middle school, future Lumin upper el graduates would have a great chance at making a transition over to Mata for middle school to continue their Montessori educational journey.

My son is apart of Lumin East Dallas. I know we are fortunate to be in such an enriched program and loving atmosphere, this is a rarity in the ISD district. The struggle for parents to find the best for their children’s future, and more do crippling when you are in a lower bracket.
As fortunate as we may feel, we understand come 3rd grade, the chances of finding a program that comes somewhat parr is far and few inbeteeen. I know of other Montessori programs in Dallas, who offer Upper education and they are successful with their growth in life, in transitions, and success.
I know The Lumin program has risen above and beyond to offer success for the children. I feel very confident that this will only lift the program to its highest expectation for my child and future child to come.
I sign this petition in faith of our community, our future and offering chances.

I am an East Dallas Community School alumni and am very thankful to have my daughter attending the same school. I would be thrilled to see Lumin expand to Upper Elementary. I think it is essential to the continuation of their education and to insure all Lumin children receive the full Montessori foundation that they deserve so that they can have the best future possible.

I took my older daughter out of Lumin after K because I saw multiple families struggling to find a place for 4th grade...neighborhood schools in my area are performing poorly and landing a spot in a school of choice or magnet in 4th grade is tough. Had there been an upper el, my older daughter would still be there. I feel that this idea has a lot of support and I hope it will be further considered.
