LPN-to-RN Bridge Program at Hostos Community College
We, the students, graduates, and supporters of Hostos Community College, respectfully request that the school administration reestablish the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to Registered Nurse (RN) Bridge Program within the nursing department.
Many of us are proud graduates and current LPN students who want to further our education while continuing to serve our community. A bridge program would allow us to build on our existing skills, meet workforce demands, and strengthen the college’s role as a leader in nursing education.
Why This Matters:
- Expands opportunities for current LPNs to become RNs without leaving our community.
- Helps address the ongoing nursing shortage in local hospitals and long-term care facilities.
- Provides a cost-effective, flexible pathway for working nurses to continue their education.
- Supports the college’s mission of lifelong learning and professional growth.
Our Request:
We ask that Hostos Community College continue the development of an LPN-to-RN Bridge Program, beginning with faculty consultation, and collaboration with local healthcare partners to determine program requirements and launch timeline.
Together, we can make nursing advancement more accessible for all dedicated healthcare professionals who have started their journey here.
