I live in Durango West 2 and although I have broadband to my residence, it isn’t updated, thus fast service. It is my understanding that we have already paid into tax monies to upgrade and provide fast, reliable service to the general public. Please do not forget us just because we have 1990 fiber. Thank you.

This would be so beneficial for everyone and everything: people AND the environment, along with alleviating the technological inequities in town vs. rural communities. It's especially needed NOW more than ever given that so many work and/or take classes remotely. C'mon LPEA, be the forward-thinking E supplier you claim to be and DO THIS!

Fiber to the Premises (FTTP) is the best way to receive quality internet, unlike wireless services. It’s faster (1Gbps), safe ( wireless radiation is making 1/3 of the population sick and disabling 6%), cybersecure (important for our privacy and infrastructure). REA’s around the country are providing it and their members love it, see the map on www.muninetworks.org. Americans have already paid for FTTP but telecom carriers fraudulently diverted their customer’s fees from FTTP to 5G development instead. That money was recently won back for the states by the Irregulators v FCC ($.5T). We need to get CO’s portion to build our LPEA Fiber, along with members who will support LPEA by subscribing. Wireless is also an ENERGY HOG! It uses >10x’s the energy of wired connections. If LPEA doesn’t take the lead in providing Fiber Broadband and wireless comes instead, our sustainability goals will be defeated. If a hybrid model needs to be used in the short term, until fiber can get to some remote places, the ADA/FHA rights of EMS (electromagnetically sensitive) disabled people who have moved there for safe haven, need to be protected. Wired internet and phones are the only way they have to work and live safely. Everyone should be considering reducing the levels of electropollution they are living in and exposing plants and animals to, especially bees and birds that are already being adversely affected. For all our sakes, we need to reduce wireless radiation, and switch to safer use of technology. The option of affordable LPEA Fiber is absolutely necessary for every household and office. We can correct the digital divide that the telecom industry created, so our communities can prosper and there is equal access for all to work and learn safely. Thank you for diligently working towards meeting this important need of the members.

With the easements that LPEA currently has, LPEA is in the best position to support and collaborate with either FastTrack or another ISP or consortium of ISPs to get fiber on some of the current poles along main routes that would support shorter range wireless delivery to households in rural areas. My understanding is that a resolution by the LPEA Board to utilize existing easements is provided for in state regulation now, and that this is what has been done in other areas of the state.
