We the undersigned, believe that if a 16 year-old is able to pay taxes, buy a house, have children, work, and potentially get married, they should have the right to vote in elections, and have a say in how the country is governed.

The opposition continues to ignore us but I am spending my evenings sending packets of these signatures to every office that will listen. It is draining to be dismissed repeatedly yet I am not walking away from this fight until they acknowledge the reality of our situation.

I believe 16 year olds do have the right to vote, after all some 16 year olds demonstrate a far greater understanding of current issues and issues that are important for the future than many adults. If you can pay tax you should have a say in how that money is spent.

When I was 16, I felt I had a political opinion that I had no way to express in a way that actually made a tangible difference. At 26 I still feel the same about my liberal beliefs as I did 10 years ago; thus I sign this petition.

The EU referendum will determine the future for 16 year olds more than for any other age group. This alone warrants their ability to vote. If it's good for Scotland, it's good for the UK.

It seems absurd that some people don't get to vote in a General Election until they are more than two years older than the MP for Paisley and Renfrewshire South is now.

These are the people who have the longest to suffer if things go wrong, so let them have a say. There are plenty of 60 year olds who have no idea what they are voting for except themselves maybe.

I voted in the Scottish Independence Referendum at 17. 16 and 17 year olds are responsible enough and deserve the right to vote.

I believe that young teenagers are over looked by adults and it's about time we make a stand for what's right. Most 16 year olds are already responsible young adults. We work really hard at school so we deserve to say what we think about modern society. We should be able to have a say in actions that could directly effect our future.
