To City Officials and Community Leaders,

We, the undersigned, are calling for immediate action to address excessive towing fees and unfair practices that disproportionately impact vulnerable residents, especially hardworking college students, across Utah.

The Problem:

Towing fees in many cities are outrageously high, placing an unreasonable financial burden on residents. In college towns, students are frequently targeted by predatory towing practices, often having their vehicles towed without any warning. For individuals already managing tuition, rent, and living expenses, these sudden, exorbitant fees can be financially devastating.

Our Demands:

1. Lower Towing Fees: Implement fair limits on what towing companies can charge residents.

2. Mandatory Owner Notification: Require towing companies to notify vehicle owners before towing and provide a grace period to move the vehicle.

3. Stronger Consumer Protections: Enforce policies that prevent towing companies from targeting vulnerable populations, such as college students and low-income residents.

Why It Matters:

Unfair towing practices are not just an inconvenience—they’re a financial hardship. In communities with large student populations, these fees disproportionately hurt young adults striving to make ends meet. Residents deserve transparent, reasonable regulations that protect them from predatory behavior.

Our Call to Action:

We urge city councils across Utah to pass legislation that:

• Caps excessive towing fees.

• Requires proper notification before towing.

• Provides residents a reasonable grace period to move their vehicles.

Let’s stand together for fair and transparent towing policies. Sign this petition to demand change and protect residents in your community.
