Multiple questions were very badly worded - I thought it was meant to be maths, not English? The fact that you HAD to have a good understanding and be able to interpret questions was completely inappropriate for a maths exam.

All in all, amazing paper with some great banter but 0/10 would resit. Seriously though, grade boundaries to need lowering.

Despite the probability of anyone reading this complaint is reasonably low (unlike that of Hannah picking her sweets), I am going to take the time to express my feelings towards the recent exam. First of all, I would like to compare the exam I took with past papers from your website. In your past papers are questions of which I can say are fair and reasonable to GCSE students (not A-level students, just incase you get mixed up). With the simultaneous equations and such questions that are in the syllabus and GCSE textbooks. However, with the exam I took there were as you may know, some difficult more challenging questions. Now I as an individual just to clear this up would class myself as particularly good at maths. I am continuing on at my school to study maths, economics, physics and computing. So I can say I quite like maths too, funnily enough. Anyway back onto topic. My exam was somewhat more challenging than the past papers, which doesn’t surprise me what with all the coming changes, but anyhow I wasn’t expecting to such magnitude and as it turns out POSSIBLY hundreds of thousands of other students weren’t either. I will take the example of the container filling with grain. I asked my maths teacher as soon as the exam ended exactly what it was on about, and was wondering why we had not been formally taught that in lesson. Unsurprisingly her reply was, after I drew it up, “that is an A-level question”. So to summarise this paragraph, do you think it is fair for the students who are predicted B’s and C’s, to put such a high level question worth so many marks? Yes okay fair enough you could work out the volume to get method marks but it is still wasted! On the other end of the scale, I know somebody who was expecting 100/100, but that question came up and it spoiled it! Because it is not in any GCSE textbooks. I strongly believe that the grade boundaries should be lowered or the majority of students will not only feel bad about their grades but also have a darastic effect on the 2015 edexcel maths grades on the whole. It is exams and grade boundaries as harsh as this which lead students to feel tremdously upset which can lead to further problems in the future such as depression. As a result I feel that edexcel is compelled to lower the grade boundaries to safe guard our generation.
