I agree with the objective of this petition. The Village Mayor and Board of Trustees have a fiduciary duty to scrutinize and challenge every single item on the budget and remove the ones that are unnecessary and bordering on frivolous. And this is not the time for salary increases for village employees when the residents of Scarsdale are going through furloughs, layoffs and paycuts.

Enough is enough. This should be a time of belt tightening. Lower the budget. Act as though money doesn’t grow on trees, because even in Scarsdale, it doesn’t.

Please do not underestimate the broad scope of the economic fallout from COVID-19. Scarsdale may be a wealthy community but it is not immune from dramatic changes in economic well-being among many of its residents. It would be hubris to assume the Village can proceed with "business as usual" with no data to support this view. One year of abundant caution in our expenditures will not irrevocably alter what we hold dear about Scarsdale but getting this wrong could. Plan for the worst and hope for the best. Protect our taxpayers from more burden until we have a better understanding of what our collective futures hold.

I disagree with the elimination of overtime pay for career firefighters. It is unthinkable to penalize firefighters who put their lives on the line.

Yes, the taxes are really bloated. This should have been done ages ago. The firefighters have a really good deal - they sleep on the job and moonlight in their off hours.
I have been very unhappy with the reassessment that occurred - seems very corrupt.
And my street seems to get last (or not at all attention when it comes to curb repair.)
