I speak for all students and parents when I say paying for a $50.00 parking ticket because you don't have a permit, because you forget your permit, because you parked there for a couple seconds, and more. I'm a full time student paying for my own college, own sorority, everything plus I have been working since spring semester of freshmen year and I'm now a sophomore. For me when I get paid from work, it either goes to food, gas, college or sorority and for a ticket to be $50 is down right outragous. How many students do you know get $50 dollars every two weeks? Not many. I'm not saying we shouldn't get ticketed because I do understand but at the same time, I would be able to afford $15 dollars for a ticket instead of waiting weeks after weeks for $50. I've had to reppeal many tickets yet they were never reappealed and I had to pay $50 for parking at my work or for even parking for two minutes to drop something off and came back with $50. When I say I speak for most students, I really do mean it. I honestly just believe that lowering our parking to $20 or less would make a big difference. It's not fair for parents who have parked in a parking lot who didn't know and they were here for orientation to come back after such a beautiful walk around campus and meeting people to see they've gotten a $50 ticket or for a student to run in to grab paper work and get a ticket.Another thing that make no senseis how when we pay for a parking toll like in front of anderson, for 2 minutes, it cost 5 cents, for 10 cents it cost 4 which is basically ripping students off for money. That's great we want money to make campus better but taking students money for parking is uncalled for. At Ithaca college, for a 50 dollar ticket on campus is when there is reckless driving, for $20 it's for students without a permit or wrong permit lot. At Brandeis university, it cost $20 for a no parking zone.
