This was an unfairly hard exam paper compared to previous years. The specific material included within the questions cannot be found in past papers or even textbooks so we had no means of acquiring the knowledge. I have done a countless amount of chem4 past papers but this was too advanced. The questions also had very poor time allocation and these factors should be considered when assessing the grade boundaries definitely making them lower than any other year since the spec has been used.

- deliberately awkward layout to cause confusion alongside large quantity of vague/suggest questions worth more marks than usual/compared to previous years. - difficult to complete paper in time given due to nature of suggest questions and other one/two mark questions that took a long period of time to answer. - 9 mark analysis question at end big shock due to time and whole topic being tested in just one set particular way/different to usual method of testing again very difficult - this is together with AQA informing us of the wrong topic for the Empa, perhaps deliberately attempting to catch us out by lying? -unacceptable that our future lives in terms of university/degrees depend on these papers and exam boards are deliberately trying to trip us up.

Why? Why start off a paper by making us question everything we have been taught? Ethanoic acid acting as a base? What the hell is wrong with you AQA.

When I have spent hours revising, and I am repeatedly getting As or Bs in past papers, there is no reason why I should come out of an exam in the very same subject and be sure that I'm going to have to resit the year. Lower the boundaries

Paper wasn't a fair representation on what you should learn in Chemistry United 4... many topics I spent ages learning didn't even come up or came up very vaguely. After resisting this year I feel AQA are making a mockery of students hard work... I experienced issues last year with chem 4 and thought this year's paper would be a lot more like previous past papers. Very disappointed with the outcome of the exam and the lack of thought put into writing the paper.

I agree with previous comments that this exam was not testing our knowledge and recall but were mainly application questions and the layout of the exam was unlike any past paper. No amount of revision, exam technique and past paper revision could have prepared us for this exam and therefore the grade boundaries should be lowered considerably.

The questions were a different format and style to the past papers that I spent so much time doing...TWICE. It's difficult to balance timing with reading extremely wordy small mark questions in depth.
