XXX Lower grade boundaries for CHEMISTRY UNIT 4 2016

Absolutely crazy

The exam was so hard and I really need an A in chemistry to do the the degree I want to at university and so it would need to be like 30 marks for an A

Ridiculous

My daughter was devastated to find no content was on the exam which she has spent all year revising for, so gutted for her!

Contained very hard questions.

I'm one of those students who does all the papers, all the packs of questions and I even thought re reading the textbook each night would be beneficial. Yet nothing could have prepared me for that exam. Yes I knew how to answer why the initial rate was calculated and the rate equation question, but all my efforts really wasn't enough to get me through that paper. AQA you have got me questioning whether it is even attainable to get an A in that paper? Furthermore yes the questions were hard, but dear lord the timing was also ridiculous... So short of time and then I see that 9 marker at the end! Just how? I have been getting A* in every paper, this one no doubt has gone wrong. Just why?

Worked so hard and was getting As at least in past paper questions, but now after that paper I feel deflated. This paper was ridiculously different, difficult and not enough time to answer the questions.

Really angry . Why set a syllabus and then ask questions not from it. How does that test your knowledge and ability. Not nearly enough time either.

Ridiculous exam. Was getting 90% and over in past papers and I'm sure I have dropped at least 20 marks in this.

I think it was totally unfair that aqa gave us a new styled paper on the day of the exam. There were more application questions in this paper than in any other which required a lot of time to think. And even the simple topics such as rate were harder in this paper and all this lead to a severe lack of time. So, we did not have sufficient time to go over our paper or answer section B properly.

I Recieved high UMS and got A's on both my AS chemistry papers and have almost consistently been doing well over the a2 year, however this paper was unreasonably hard. It was the sheet content in the limited amount of time which didn't even allow me to go back and check and therefore may Harv allowed errors. Also the last 9 marker on mass spectrum after such a challenging paper was horrible and undoable in the time conditions. This exam literally is the difference between me pursuing my future career in dentistry or not and after all this hard work I feel that something should be done and boundries should be lowered.

I'm disappointed!

Disgusting exam, hardly any of the actual spec on it.

So disappointed in AQA these kids have studied so hard and you produce a paper that is too difficult and did not give them the opportunity to show what they have learnt. Disgrace!

I did not get the opportunity to express the knowledge i have gained in the last year studying this unit.

Even the most intelligent students found the paper challenging

After achieving 95%+ in AS and going to a high achieving grammer school, everyone came out of this exam shocked. It's understandable to add a few hard questions in like 2015 but this papers whole structure and type of questions were changed with only a small percentage actually familiar!

Ran out of time and really hard questions!
