Dear colleagues at AQA/ Ofqual, I have been an A-level chemistry teacher for nearly 37 years now. I've seen specifications come and go and marked for all of the major exam boards. The AQA CHEM4 paper that candidates sat this year was unfair; It is definitely one of the most inequitable papers (if not the most) with regards to Current Syllabus and past papers provided to students Vs. Actual exam. For students to pay the price for what I can only assume is a mishandled transition between this syllabus and the new one is a blatant injustice. I kindly ask for you to take necessary action to reduce the inevitable impact this paper will have on students' overall Chemistry grades. Kind regards, B.A.K Colbourne

Too hard and not enough general chemistry facts, and no mechanisms or buffer questions. Too much irrelevant off silibus topics.

Never felt more confident going into an exam before. Never felt so disappointed coming out. Really struggling with unit 5 and I wanted to do well in unit 4 to boost my grade.

This exam was too difficult and deserves lower grade requirements otherwise good students will suffer.

Disgraceful. I tried extremely hard and I would be lucky to get an E. Screw you AQA.

It's no wonder so many schools have dropped AQA. Atleast OCR and Edexcel let students enjoy the subject and let it show on the paper.

Not representative of Chem4. Even if grade boundaries are lowered many A* students would perform poorly due to a different skill being tested with was application, exquisite time management, and luck.
