These are my comments after 2018 nationals. They say it all...
The first day I met Kenny was at a cheerleading competition in Greensboro, NC. I noticed he had rings on his fingers and so I asked him where he cheered. It was 2004 and he had just came off the mat from winning with Louisville in 2003.
You can imagine his surprise when I asked him if his team was any good. Coming from Canada I knew of a red team with a bird logo.. but I had no idea about the legacy, tradition or incredible dominance of this program. Pretty crazy huh?
Fast forward to 2018. I have just now wrapped up my third nationals experience with Louisville Large Coed & the entire Louisville Spirit program and I cant imagine my life without this amazing family.
When Kenny told me 3 years ago that he wanted to get back involved with the program... I knew I had to make it happen. He sacrificed a lot traveling these last 12 years and I wanted him to be able to reconnect with the people and places he loved.
It is simply amazing for me to watch him in this environment. There is no better feeling in the world than watching the person you love do something they are so passionate about.
James Speed is like a father to Kenny. He has been his coach, mentor and friend. We simply would not have Spring CDT if it were not for the lessons Kenny learned from James and the work ethic he instilled in him during his time at Louisville & Spirit Sports. To work with someone so legendary and iconic that is a pure genius of his craft is something I hope we never take for granted. Every experience with James brings about a new lesson and an opportunity for Kenny to become better. Even after all these years James is still the teacher and coach he turns to guiding him on his journey.
These weeks in Daytona have become a highlight of our season. We spend a lot of the year helping others on their journey - but this experience with Louisville has become part of the cheerleading we do for ou
