The Board of Supervisors formally voted to remove the proposed bypass and road expansion plans from the CTP yesterday. We will now monitor the technical drafting phase to ensure these specific protections remain in the final county document.
We, the undersigned residents of Loudoun County, oppose the Countywide Transportation Plan (CTP) as drafted. The current CTP burdens existing neighborhoods in the Suburban area by intensifying community roads with more lanes than necessary and creating “Route 28” sized thru-ways that would cut through cohesive communities. Most roads must remain four lanes.
The CTP also threatens the integrity of the Transition Area in the Comprehensive Plan by inducing unnecessary residential development. We support protecting the Transition area by opposing renewed efforts to build an interstate-grade western “bypass” or “corridor” in the County.
These elements are crucial toward planning a community that prospers economically, maintains quality of life and limits local tax increases. The vision of a sound CTP sustains the priorities of family safety, a pedestrian-friendly road network, energy efficiency, economic development and community character.
Thank you for signing the CCTP iPetition. After signing you will be taken to a fundraising page which IS NOT part of the CCTP community effort, but part of ipetitions (the web page sponsor). You will NOT have to donate as part of this petiton.
We have reached the two hundred fifty signature threshold. My next step is organizing these data points into a formal brief for the County Planning Commission to ensure our specific opposition to the current road lane requirements is documented.

Our roads cant handle this much traffic anyway. Why are they trying to pack more people in here?

Keep the thru-ways out of our neighborhoods. We moved here for the quiet not to have a highway in our front yard.

4 lanes is plenty. Nobody wants a massive bypass cutting through the town.

RIDICULOUS plan. Loudoun is already way too crowded and this will just make traffic worse for everyone living here.
