I have been trying to figure out things on my own for years and the law saying I will lose my benefits is ridiculous. Why can’t I marry my fiancé without having to worry about an income or insurance? Please sign this petition not only for Loris Law but for the future of people with disabilities.

Everyone should have the right to marry the one they love and be one as husband and wife regardless of their disability.

As someone who was disabled at a young age (21) I understand what it is like to be treated differently. Not the same as your situation, but i do hold a disabled placard in my vehicle and i get dirty looks everytime I park because on the surface i look able bodied, but inside i am multiple prosthetic joints including my hip. Good luck with your petition, i support you.

Anyone should marry who they love no matter what circumstances are in their lives. Those benefits belong to her and his earnings belong to him and together.

This is unfair, plain and simple. Let us take care of our disabled brothers and sisters and allow them to marry whomever they choose.

The current law that prevents disabled people from marrying whomever they wish lest they lose their benefits is horrifying. This law is discriminatory and needs changed immediately.

This needs to change. Everyone should have the privilege of getting married and keeping their benefits.

Current law is not really pro-family, is it? Let's fix that!

I’m 20 years old, disabled, and receive SSI benefits. I want to be able to marry in my future. I don’t want to be treated like a burden, transferred from my abled parents to an abled spouse. I am more than that. I am human. Let me keep my benefits.

End this cruel, discriminatory, harmful law.

You didn't deserve this at all from them. If you want to get married it's your right

I was also born disabled. Because of DATING DISCRIMINATION I have yet to find the man of my dreams. When I finally DO, I want to have the right to marry him like my able-bodied counterparts have the PRIVILEGE to do!

The work of marriage equality did not end when LGBT gained the right to marry. The disabled are still penalized and often lose ALL benefits including life saving Medicare and SSDI benefits for being married. Imagine any other group being forced to choose between food, medicine and a partner. This is horribly unjust and a hold out from 20th century eugenics programs. Anyone interested in social justice should be outraged.
