That's ridiculous to expect them to eat in 20 minutes . I'm grown and I can't eat in 20 minutes . Shame on you for rushing the kids . It's enough to make them nervous.

What’s the point in free lunches if the kids don’t have time to eat it. What if a child gets choked trying to eat really fast? Seems Ike when I was in school we got 45 minutes.

My daughter was one of the last kids through the lunch line yesterday and only had time to eat 2 chicken nuggets. These kids are growing and with free lunch and breakfast the lunch lines are very long. They need more time just to get through the line and sit down and eat.

I agree the 20min isn’t enough time. My daughter is 7 at Union and it’s the best school! I really have no complaints about it at all. However having eaten lunch with her many times I realize how quickly the lunch period is over.
I do not want to see recess taken away as fresh air, sunshine, running and playing (break time) is So Important for young children.
5-10 extra minutes for lunch could be arranged. Instruction time is important but not at the expense of some children not getting to finish what may be the only meals they get per day.
In the long run that ten minutes a day added to lunch will give some children a healthier body (healthier mind as a result) and and the state needs to focus on health and over all well being over mandatory time brackets for lessons/instruction. (To meet stabdaradizrd test scores requirements)
Teachers have it tough to complete lesson plans in the state format but children who get off the bus crying they are hungry because they couldn’t finish lunch daily is also an issue.
I’m signing because I would rather my child have the extra ten minutes of lunch then an extra ten minutes of memorization of facts when she has homework going over the same facts anyway.
Again Union is the best school and lunch runs smoothly there and is organized well. But overall county wide that’s not the same. So this is more for other schools and grade levels then my own child’s.
My nephew is at West Brunswick and says he don’t have time to go through the lunch line and eat before his lunch period is over and his next class is on the far side of the school after lunch which I couldn’t walk to in less then 5 minutes myself.
Thanks and good luck.

First off, a teacher told me the reason they cut lunch so short is to “avoid fights”. There are way more people this year than there were last year and the year before that, it takes 5+ minutes for me to get to lunch even though I come from the math hallway. They blocked off the other stairs so everyone is crammed and trying to get down one set of stairs. Oh yeah and there’s no room in the cafeteria

By the time I got to the lunch room, got my food, and sat down, I had roughly 5 min to eat. I had to scarf down whatever I could which later made my stomach hurt. 20 min is not enough.
