I agree the episode was A-MAZ-ING. I don't even have a problem with the way they killed him off. I just feel if it had to be done it should have been saved for the SERIES finale. For me Joe makes the show.

In all honesty I don't really think that it was a mistake your off this character the way they did, however the following was better back in season 1 and then again knowing Joe Carol might not be dead

I agree that there's no Following without Joe Carroll. It has always been about their chemistry. Joe can still back. They could always put Joe's execution as one of Ryan's hallucinations.

Come on... killing off the primary character responsible for the show's popularity is ridiculous and not a choice studio exec's would make. If this is simple PR, well, it's working... just don't push us too far because we could just as easy support James Purefoy in one of his many other projects and abandon The Following altogether.
