Fully support the petition. In fact Indian politicians should also get involved following your lead - the least they could do is to demand withdrawal from the games unless Dow does.

they are responsible for the sufferings of our people, and they should be shamed of their cowardly behavior.

It will truly be apalling if the company is given the go ahead. It will reflect very poorly on the International communities sentiments.

Dow/Union Carbide caused an environmental disaster that has yet to be cleared up after 27 years. It caused a social disaster where people are still suffering from the effects of the gas leak. The company has failed to act ethically with the Indian government on the compensation amount to clear the mess and support the victims of the disaster.

Its mockery of humanity. those who survived learn t to reconcile to their loses. what will they do with any compensation today when they didnt get justice then and found their own paths to fight their situation. when the world talks of 'environment', sustainability --why havent they learnt lessons from the past?

Contrast America's response to BP's Florida disaster and this story. Also lets highlight Texaco's environmental destruction of the Amazon in dumping oil waste in shallow pits in inhabited areas of Equador.

It would be an affront to all who suffered and continue to suffer to permit this sponsorship to proceed. Every Indian in London, and particularly the participating boroughs , will be outraged at this commercial opportunitism

When i read of all the understanable sadness over the twin towers & then consider the tragic & continuing suffering at Bhopal, the term double standard could have been "invented" for this very reason. Where is the fairness by the American authorities?

As a British Hindu I am deeply disappointed at the sahlow memoirs and insesteous greed that exists. The crime in gopal is unforgivable and you know it. I will not be using the olimpic facilities. I have a conscious and respect for poor people.

Justice must be done

I am haunted by the terrible image of the little dead blinded child's beautiful face being buried in the soil. Companies worldwide should take heed that their social responsibility is not just a marketing ploy - it is about basic human rights.

Utterly shameful

It is shameful that the UK even consider showing support for such an immoral, callous and criminal company, who still shun their responsibility to the people affected and who continue to be affected by one of the worst human disasters in recent history. The fact that the UK Olympic authorities are happy to display this support on a global footing, shows how unprincipled and lacking in human sympathy those in positions of power are. The UK should be helping to bring justice to the people in India rather than supporting the perpetrators.
