Please consider signing this petition for two reasons:

1. Open-Enrollment

If class sections decrease, class sizes will most likely increase

As class sizes increase, due to reduced sections, it makes the program more at-risk for losing additional students due to high class sizes

Spanish immersion stimulates diversity, which LODL brings to the district and surrounding areas

Kindergarten is the optimal grade level to begin immersion because of natural language acquisition

2. Class Sizes

Currently next year there will be only two sections of 3rd grade (28 and 29 students)

This is NOT a best practice and will inhibit the learning and teaching of students and staff

School Board re-vote on the closure for Open Enrollment for Kindergarten, and enrollment remain “open” for all PLSAS schools, but closed at the sites that do not have space

Split the upcoming 3rd grade class into three sections instead of two
