By signing my name, noting my current job category, and my DGC Membership number "of good standing" below, I hereby request that the Executive Board of the DGC Ontario open a discussion with a yet to be determined group of senior Location Caucus Members that would work together to form an alternative remuneration model for the Locations Caucus and all of its unique members. We say “No more (across the board) 14 hour work days paid at straight time for all job categories within the Location Caucus. A Location Support Person has a much different work day than a Location P.A. A Location P.A. has a much different work day than an ALM. An ‘On Set’ ALM has a much different work day than an ‘Office’ ALM. An ‘Office’ ALM and an ‘On Set’ ALM have a much different work day than a Location SCOUT. A Location Manager ‘Flat Rate’ needs to be clearly and consistently defined and executed for all members that choose to (or are expected to) engage in this form of remuneration. Simply put, the issue is this……To require an individual (any individual, in any industry) to work a 14 hour day on a 'straight time' pay model is grossly outdated and quite frankly inhumane. There needs to be a better system put into place so that members can better balance their own individual levels of stress and fatigue. It’s not all about money; it’s about finding fair and equitable alternatives to a problem that is long overdue in getting dealt with. We, the members of 'good standing', signed herein, are committed to finding an amicable solution to this problem.
