Foolish decision to charge for the gardens - locals just wouldn't come here, yet put up with congestion at various times of the year for festivals / shows. The cafe would certainly see less business - it doesn't seem to make sense.

This action seems petty. It will not raise money as locals won't pay the full price to stroll in the gardens in winter, so they just won't come.

I always enjoy the access the Hampton court palace gardens during the winter it's so relaxing plus when the daffodils are in bloom. I agree that this access to the gardens should be available to locals - it's been a tradition for many years and now it feels the queen and palace are only worried about money and restricting access. Please allow us locals to visit the gardens for the winter season free of charge.

We love walking in Home Park, and the access into the gardens of Hampton Court is a wonderful bonus, especially during the winter, and when all the spring bulbs are out. These are times when there are few tourist visitors anyway - and surely it is not asking much of the Palace to allow its nearest neighbours access.

Please, please consider those who enjoy the delights on their doorstep by injecting this piece of culture into our lives without having to worry about costs. Such a privilege to be swiped away. Lets all stop and think of those less fortunate who will now be denied this. The gardens offer so much more than just a nice place to be. Think of the therapeutic qualities that you are taking away.

I am a subscriber to an annual season ticket. I accept that the palace itself should be a paid-for access, but I enjoyed bringing friends to see the gardens in the winter months free of charge. I seems parsimonious to deny this small privilege, particularly when we have huge local inconvenience to endure during set-up, running and dismantling the flower show.

Clearly, with existing goodwill and support from residents living near the Palace (who accept, with generally good grace, that they are disadvantaged during major events), this new situation and petition may just provide the sort of opportunity to re-double efforts to further strengthen ties in ways that benefit both Palace and locals. Could we start a dialogue with the Palace please, to consider the practicalities and look for ways that satisfy the varying outcomes we want to achieve? I think there are there some good commercial opportunities ahead for the Palace in doing so, too.

I think it is very sad that Hampton Court Palace do nothing to look after local people with opening the gardens at a reduced rate. we put up with the flower shows and festivals with traffic, yet in return we are given nothing. it is important for health and wellbeing being allowed access for the local community.

It is so unfair that we can no longer enjoy the gardens at Hampton Court without paying a full price ticket. Disgraceful, considering all the local traffic chaos we have to endure all year round living in East Molesey. A treasured and wonderful benefit will be lost to local residents.
