Locals within 5 miles of Hampton Court should be allow to enjoy the gardens there for free or a very reduced rate. Under new rules we would now have to pay for a full Palace ticket. They are an important resource for families to enjoy and appreciate the area we live in. We also have to endure some bad traffic and noise when The Palace runs fee paying events such as the Flower Show and Summer Festivals.

Come on Hampton Court Palace - be a good neighbour! Let us see the gardens for free/locals rate and then we might even be more willing to support you in the future.

Updates

March 15, 2016

I have been reviewing the feedback from residents who experience the same congestion and noise issues as my family. It is clear that the current ticketing policy does not acknowledge the daily reality of living in this immediate vicinity. I am currently drafting a formal letter to the administration requesting a discussion regarding a local resident rate.

Hampton Court should follow the wishes of Queen Victoria when she offered free access to the Palace to the public. Hampton Court should value the goodwill of neighbouring residents who put up with large scale inconvenience w=during the flower show and noise during music events all commercial activities

I am a subscriber to an annual season ticket. I accept that the palace itself should be a paid-for access, but I enjoyed bringing friends to see the gardens in the winter months free of charge. I seems parsimonious to deny this small privilege, particularly when we have huge local inconvenience to endure during set-up, running and dismantling the flower show.

I think it is very sad that Hampton Court Palace do nothing to look after local people with opening the gardens at a reduced rate. we put up with the flower shows and festivals with traffic, yet in return we are given nothing. it is important for health and wellbeing being allowed access for the local community.

Another rule to spoil our freedom to enjoy local beauty spots.

Seems very petty and mean.

Foolish decision to charge for the gardens - locals just wouldn't come here, yet put up with congestion at various times of the year for festivals / shows. The cafe would certainly see less business - it doesn't seem to make sense.

This action seems petty. It will not raise money as locals won't pay the full price to stroll in the gardens in winter, so they just won't come.
