Only 10% of the food within our dining halls is sourced from within New York State. We, the Ithaca College community, demand a change from Sodexo, our food supplier. We would like to see more sustainable food choices that are sourced locally within 250 miles, organic, fair trade, equal exchange, direct trade, and/or from an environmentally and socially responsible company. Our vision also includes the expansion and diversity of choices for those with dietary restrictions including gluten free, kosher, vegan, and vegetarian meals and proper labeling on all food options within the dining hall. These alterations will further the vision that is addressed within the Ithaca College Climate Action Plan and help to create a more sustainable future globally and locally for the Ithaca College community.
