LMSD Parents for In-Person / Hybrid Education
Dear LMSD Administrators & Board Members,
Given that results of the Family Survey will not be made publicly available before the August 5th LMSD Board Vote, the signatories below wish to communicate support of In-Person/Hybrid Education, given Montgomery County’s current COVID conditions.
We understand the planning process started last spring through the summer, and recognize the extreme complexities, challenges, and ever-evolving nature of this situation.
We are hopeful that given the safety precautions planned to date, schools will re-open September 8th to those students whose families opt into the In-person/Hybrid model.
We support our teachers and trust that the Board and administration are doing their best to keep them as safe as possible, as well as provide them with the tools they need to maximize direct interaction with their students, whether face-to-face or through remote synchronous instruction. We urge the Board and administration to adhere to a policy of full transparency about developing or changing plans and the public health data that informs those plans.
Key Asks:
- Open Schools September 8th (Hybrid Model, or if proper safety precautions / learning spaces are available… 5-Days)
- Maximize synchronous learning opportunities during remote days
- Adhere to policies of transparency
- Continue to engage stakeholders representing the full diversity of our student body
Thank you,
Families of LMSD Students
