The university administration has rescinded the mandatory vaccination policy for student registration. Our formal legal inquiry prompted an immediate review of the registration hold process. We will continue to monitor campus policy updates to ensure this remains a voluntary choice.

Recently, we have been informed that all students of Loma Linda University are required to have the seasonal influenza vaccine and the H1N1 vaccine. Failing to do so will result in a “hold” on registration, meaning that we will not be able to register for class until we get vaccinated. This represents Top-Down coercion on the part of the University, using their positions of authority to mandate vaccinations for all, regardless of people’s opinions, beliefs, or inclinations. Rather than giving LLU students the freedom to choose whether or not to receive the vaccines, the University has taken away this freedom, as well as the autonomy over their bodies, and has replaced it with forced submission. As a Christian University, Freedom should be of utmost importance. After all, God has granted everyone the freedom to choose Him or not. He will not force you to choose Him, though that is what He desires the most. Though the University desires that we all get vaccinated, they should not force it upon us. It should be our choice. This petition is not concerning vaccinations exclusively; it is concerning the precious principle of freedom. By signing this petition, you are NOT saying that you do not want to get vaccinated. Signing this petition is saying that you want the freedom to decide whether you want to get vaccinated. By signing, you are expressing your desire for freedom of choice.

Updates

November 17, 2009

The volume of support has reached a level where the university administration can no longer ignore this mandate. I am currently finalizing a formal letter to the Board of Trustees to request a meeting regarding the policy revision.

Ridiculous to force this on adults. I pay tuition to learn not to be told what to put in my blood.
