Take the Budget Cuts Out of the Classroom!
The Little Run PTA Board is asking you to voice your concerns for our neighborhood school to the FCPS School Board as they look for ways to solve their budget crisis. FCPS is facing a $100,000,000 budget shortfall in the FY2009 budget. In order to compensate for this shortfall, one proposal is to cut funding and programs at the classroom level. These cuts will have a detrimental affect on our children at Little Run Elementary School. These cuts will have the following implications for Little Run: 1. larger class sizes 2. decreased supplemental support from instructional assistants 3. multi-grade combination classes 4. reduced specials such as PE, art and music 5. reduction of differentiated services (fewer pull-out for services) for English as a second language students. Please visit the Little Run PTA Webpage (http://www.fcps.edu/LittleRunES/pages/PTAindex/PTAindex.htm) to read the complete analysis of how this budget will affect our school next year and consider signing this electronic petition. In signing this petition, you are agreeing that the FCPS School Board needs to make alternative budget cuts that won\'t affect all of our children at the classroom level. Thank you for taking the time to support our community!
