We the undersigned residents of the Town of Colonie request the installation of alternating flashing yellow lights for the designated 20 mph speed limit on the right angle curves on Lishakill Road, between the Town of Colonie Golf Course Maintenance Facility and Veeder Drive. Recently motor vehicles and large trucks have been observed failing to safely negotiate the curves, thus crossing the solid double yellow lines and into oncoming traffic. This happens in both the northbound and southbound lanes. As a result, we believe urgent action needs to be taken to remedy this hazardous situation to commuters and students on school buses arriving and departing Veeder Elementary School, which is located within 500 feet of the noted curves. The preventative measure of achieving the installation of alternating flashing yellow lights in each direction of the curves would be well worth the cost because we cannot put a price on the safety and welfare of our children, ourselves or those traveling along Lishakill Road in the Town of Colonie.
