This is great that you are raising awareness and hopefully going to make changes from this petition. I was totally unaware of my daughter's lip tie until yesterday,I only saw it whilst looking at her teething gums. Now I know it was no fault of my own that breastfeeding was a disaster. It's hard to believe that this isn't checked for in the days after birth.

My son has an upper lip tie and I never knew it until he was 11 months old. It explains so much for his problems we have had. He always threw up after bottles and had gas and I had to give up on breastfeeding because he couldn't latch because of it. If I'd of known of this at birth I couldve breastfed him like I desired to!

my daughter has a lip tie which has been missed only reason I know about it is by doing research myself. My daughter is now 2 years old and have to make a doctors appointment to see what can be done! More awareness is needed and baby's should be checked before mother and baby leave the hospital

I think it is fantastic to raise awareness and I really think it is important for it to be routinely checked at birth to save further complications for mother and baby. It's a stressful time with a new baby anyway and the added stress of feeding difficulties could be eliminated in so many cases if this simple check was made. Lets hope the NHS listen!
