It's disheartening to read that we have child soldiers in Zambia and rebels in Zambia. I know my Zambia very well and we do not have that. Please get your facts right before u dent our imagine.

While am yet to read the whole book, the writer in the preview paints my country in a tone depicting a war zone, something am yet to experience in my lifetime. Am yet to hear gunshots as described in her book in my country & as such she would have said out rightly that her work was fictitious.

This book is not a true reflection of my country. It is not right to sell a book that does not reflect true incidences of a counter. This is basically slander for a buck or two and it should be pulled out of circulation and apology to Zambi issued. She lied so much that even respected Telegraph did not notice. I've lifted words of a reviewer below that has summarised this lie of a book about Zambia. So…this is me breaking out of poetic character to talk about something that I saw which made me confused, angry, and laugh out loud all at once. This morning, I came across an article on The Telegraph which has been there since Friday and it featured the most ridiculous, ignorant, so-false-that-its-funny “memoir” I ever laid eyes upon. Rebels in Zambia, Bemba children called Zimba, the war in Congo being between the Hutu and Tutsi people, and spiders that are 12 inches across. Now, as a child of the continent, I do understand that many have not visited Africa, and so what remains is the impression of a war-torn dark continent infested with HIV and Malaria. While some aspects of this are true; HIV rates in Africa remain high, and there is political unrest in some regions, it is not applicable in all places. Also, it does not give happy-go-lucky tourists the mandate to publish wrong, unchecked information just because they will not be fact-checked. What is wrong with this memoir by Louise Linton? So many things. I will just go on and elaborate a few… Firstly, while Zambia is close to countries that have faced civil conflict such as Angola and Congo, there has not been one instance of rebels crossing over into the country’s borders. In fact, Zambia remains one of the top ten most peaceful countries in Africa and played an important role in offering secure refuge for those that fled the conflict in the above mentioned countries. So…I am confused as to which place in Zambia Linton had to lie face down as rebels opened fire. That was just a barefaced lie. Sec
