In a world that thankfully becomes more and more diversified, organisations like link net become more and more important to help immigrants integrate reducing racism and discrimination. I extremely hope that linknet has the opportunity to continue to help people for years to come!!

I mentored for LINKnet last year and gain a lot of confidence through the experience. My self esteem was also raised after having gone through a tough patch. The services provided by LINKNet for those looking to be mentored are invaluable. But it doesn't stop there. Mentors also gain a lot from it.

I am Mageed Abdalla I Know LINKnet as a Mentor, Mentee and now as a board member. It is very important for this service to continue it helped me personally in the past and helped more other minority ethnic people and more waiting for their turn. Please keep this light on for our communities, without it we couldn’t find away to integrate in the wider community.

LINKnet has, for the past 15 years, provided an extremely valuable and unique service to ethnic minority communities in Scotland. Its modest funding needs belie the enormous benefits to its thousands of mentors, mentees, and their families, and it should in every way be considered an ongoing success. I call upon the City of Edinburgh Council and the Scottish Government to continue to support and encourage LINKnet’s excellent work.

I worked as a volunteer two years ago helping a mother of three from Pakistan look at her options. She was a bright intelligent woman who wanted to work around her family commitments. She finally decided to go back to college to train as a teacher's assistant. She spoke various languages and was keen to use her experience and knowledge to assist young people with their learning. The valuable work that LINKnet Mentoring offers to its clients is excellent and well needed at a time that helps both the client and the volunteer assist in each others understanding of the different cultural barriers that we share and gives the client a one to one experience that they would never get in any local job centre. Helping people back into work training and building understanding of the various cultures helps society cross the cultural barriers rs in a positive and dynamic way. LINKnet Mentoring is sorely needed and should be funded and expanded as it is a positive active and compassionate way in dealing with peoples needs. Overall I have witnessed and shared stories of bullying and misundertanding by the Job Centre culture that exists in this country. They could learn a lot from the good work of LINK net Mentoring.

LINKnet is doing a needed work in the Community with hard to reach minority people. It is very important for them to get funding to continue helping both Mentors and Mentees get their needs, hopes and aspirations met.
