We Want More Colors and Less Regulations!!!!!!!
Self expression is a window into our personality, and as students of Belleville East we are limited to expressing ourselves. Our dress code restricts us the freedom of being able to wear what we want. As young adults we are expressing ourselves in many ways, and our self expression is not controlled by us anymore. We do assimilate that our dress code is put in place to help control our modesty and to make students equal in their appearance, but we are tired of continuously wearing the same outfits. Many teachers do not enforce the dress code enough which allows some students to slither through the cracks and be completely out of dress code. While the rest of us continue our day obeying the rules and being asked if we have dress code under our outerwear, and on behalf of the female student body the dress code is sexist to the lady lancers of our school. Many girls struggle to find dress code length skirts and dresses. While some of the male student body wears shorts above the knees and I for myself have done this before. Our dress code is not enforced and many students are clueless as to what is dress code and what is not. By allowing students to wear more colors will reduce the number of students in In School Detention, which will allow students not to miss out on learning because their shirt was one shade of blue off from dress code. Dress code discourages students from coming to school because the uniform we are required to wear makes the student body feel as if there going to prison Our student body is sick of these injunctions and we want to express ourselves to the fullest extent that we can, and me and any supporters of this will stand up for what we believe in even if stand alone.
