this ban is incredably dumb, as all issues with poultry have been with the super large corporate farms. Small local flocks have never been a problem.

This needs to be lifted.

The problem has passed, the threat is over. I need to purchase specific birds before winter and prefer to do so from small breeders and swaps....I get to look the birds over and decide based on observation if it's a match for my existing flock and needs.

I don't want to see a ban happen in the future once this one is lifted. Backyard flocks are not the issue! I've only seen healthy happy birds in all the backyard flocks I visit!

I have raised Muscovies for 14+ years. They have been a huge part of my income and providing for my family. My family has been an avid member of the 4-H, FFA and an avid swap goer. We have sold poultry at swaps, we have shown poultry and the fairs. To ban the sale of poultry at swaps is ridiculous. It has been portrayed that the reason for this is because of "co-mingling." There is definitely more co mingling at fairs then there is at swaps. You go to a swap and you have Farmer Joe who brings in 10 guineas, next to him is a lady selling home made towels, the next car down is selling bird houses, and picnic tables and then there is Farmer Bob who has 10 chickens, 5 ducks and maybe some turkeys. Swap goer Helen comes and purchases two guineas from the first Farmer and his son helps her to her car where she puts them in a cage. She then comes back to Farmer Bob and buys a couple ducks, a home raised Turkey for their Thanksgiving dinner and some laying hens to provide her family with eggs. Again she is helped to her car with her newly acquired poultry. In hand are the papers that show that birds have been tested that were also needed at the gate. She wanders about a bit more, sees some children selling cards to make money to go on a school trip, some fiber from local alpaca breeders, homemade salsa from an organic farm and decides to head home. The ONLY comingling going on is now in her vehicle that is leaving the swap and going to her house. Now go to your local fair. Young Tom brings in his birds from his home and his paperwork, the birds are checked in and put in a cage. He has four cages on the top row. Right next to him...literally inches from his birds are Young Rachel's birds. Some process for hers. Now it is the big fair day and you have all the adults coming through with their children looking , touching and poking at each of their birds. There is no hand washing between cages and heck Rachels birds can fit their beaks through to Tom's birds food dishes. Comin

This poultry ban needs to be lifted for the small animal/backyard birds people. It is apparent to some that the swap community is being punished for DIS-ease caused by the large commercial breeding facilities and has really nothing to do with small animal swaps. Please LIFT THE BAN NOW!

Please lift this, I am pretty sure if people know they have sick birds they won't sell them. I have kids in 4H &this ban is harming their project areas. We rely on swaps and fairs to obtain new birds and sell others.

My sister is a hobby farmer. Her dream is to raise the food her family eats. She raises & butchers all her own meat and cans her fruits/vegetables from the garden. Her loving care for our old family farm also extends to people like me. I have the pleasure of eating her eggs, tasting her turkey on Thanksgiving, and even stealing a broiler chicken for my cookpot once in a while. Please support my sister's endeavors to feed her family. She has two little boys, and their futures need to be taken into consideration. Thank you!
