I grew up with pits all my life, it's not the dog it's the breeder.

I love pits and I really hope this ban can be overturned. Pits deserve to be treated as all the other dog breeds out there.

Lift this ban. These dogs are not dangerous. They are dogs, they have to be raised to be dangerous, and ANY dog can be raised that way. So can people.

I grew up with pit bulls from the time I was a newborn until I left home at 18. They was the sweetest dogs I ever had. The only dog that I have ever been attacked by was a Jack Russell terrier and that dog tore up the back of my leg.

So glad your doing this, all dogs are like people some good some bad, we shouldn't band some just cause the few that had bad attitudes.

I have been a delivery driver in Augusta for 6 years and have never had trouble with a pitbull. They are the sweetest and some of my most favorite dogs to see on a delivery. We have to end this ban, it is just unfair.

This ban is unfair. It isnt the breed of dog its how they are raised. This ban is stupid. Make owners responsible.

I was an Augusta resident for 10 years. I have a special respect for this community that I love. I still have family residing in Augusta. I also have a family member that works in law enforcement. I would love to return to the community but because of the current pitbull ban that is in effect, I can't. I have lived in towns with and without bans. Every officer I've dealt with in towns that have bans (Attica/Kiowa) have no issue with the breed and would not remove the dog unless there was reports of the dog being lose and growling. Which was never an issue. I currently reside in Medicine Lodge where there is no breed specific legislation. Medicine Lodge a few years ago had a pitbull ban. Mind you Medicine Lodge has a population around 1300. Law enforcement and city council felt it was no longer needed due to it was never an issue. I understand the concerns that have been raised against city council. Let me assure you, bad ownership is not breed specific and a lift on the ban would not attract people with the criminal intent to fight dogs. There are so many myths about pitbulls that have been proven to be false but yet still widely believed due to lack of education and experience with pitbulls. Pitbulls are actually amazing smart dogs that just have a false bad reputation. Please I ask the council to consider lifting the ban. To listen to the experiences of the many other towns across the state and country that have lifted the ban. Please judge the action not the breed. Pitbulls should not be discriminated against or treated any differently than any other breed of dog. Please do not punish those that practice responsible pet ownership.

While I may not own a pitbull I know people who do and those dogs are the calmest and friendliest dogs I have ever seen. Those that don't like them either have had a bad experience with them or any other dog and are sour with them. Which makes since BUT is that not in some way discrimination toward a specific dog just because a few went rouge? Not just rouge were probably treated unfaily or put in conditions that made them what they were? Instead of putting stricter regs on people who own them or want to own them they just ban them. Well to me that is just plain ignorant and wrong. Other cities have unbanned pitbulls and I have not seen any news reports or statistics SCREAMING about pitbull attacks. I hate when peoples freedoms get taken away just because a few people don't like something. Also the fact that they "benched" this issue is yet again sad and pathetic. They don't want it to be overturned but I say THIS, it is the PEOPLE who decide not a committee, since when does a committee have a say over the peoples voice? When did this become a socialist country? They deny the facts and search for every possible peice of information they can to ban the dogs but completely disregrad anything that doesn't match the agenda. Their agenda is "We don't want pitbulls" and they are sicking with it. Well I say let the people have a voice and spread this petition far and wide (in augusta only of course).

I believe that does should not be discriminated on based on what other dogs have done in the past!! My son's first dog & best friend is a pit bull!! When we moved to Augusta my 6year old was devastated to learn his best friend wouldn't be moving to our new home with us!!! I think they should all be given a chance to be loved & get the respect they once had as the amazing dogs they are!!

Any ban on dog breed so be lifted. Its ridiculous to have them because a dog breed is said to be "vicious" or "aggressive" people make the dogs aggressive. Its not the dogs fault. This is like saying it's a guns fault for killing someone. But not the one who uses it
