We at least deserve an honest explanation from administration about their actions.

Dr Carrick should be sought out to lecture anywhere on this earth. He opened doors widely for chiropractic, NOW we are shutting the door in his face! Shame on you!!!

Regardless of personal, political, philosophical or extraneous conflicts Life University is a forum by which all established and vetted speakers should have space to discuss their view points.
The university exists to challenge the status quo and be a disruptor in the healthcare field. I don't think anyone would deny that Professor Carrick is in cut from that same cloth. It should welcome the opportunity for debate.
If the university denies any speaker the opportunity to speak it should be accompanied by a clear explanation of such action. The requirements necessary to gain approval for speaking on campus are strictly clerical. Not political. As such, if denial falls outside of a failure to meet the requirements outlined it should be justified or it runs the very high risk (as we are seeing) of ambiguity, subsequent conflict and unnecessary disenfranchisement from its core constituents (the student body and Alma mater).
"Those who profess to favour freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want rain without thunder & lightning. They want the ocean without the roar of its many waters." - Frederick Douglass
Every physiological system, by definition, is made better through challenge rather than comfort. All of us would tell our patients to exercise their bodies outside of their comfort zones to develop real, sustainable, systemic and long term strength. Why then would we not expect and strive for the same opportunity to get out of our comfort zone clinically, philosophically and intellectually?

One of the things that supposedly makes Life University the leader in chiropractic education is its breadth and depth in presenting classic chiropractic theories while also allowing for advancement and innovation in the science behind our profession. To deny a man like Professor Carrick an audience of students who are motivated to advance the profession, based strictly on personal conflicts, is downright embarrassing. Very disappointed in my alma mater today.

Why would this speaker be a problem when our school has allowed the ACA president come to speak there during my schooling

I believe the students should not be deprived of any information regarding the progress of positive growth in their profession. It sounds to me that you are looking out for yourselves, not the students.

This is an academic institution. This is not a private corporation. Denying Professor Carrick an opportunity to share with students in an academic setting is a misuse of administrative power and a downright disgusting political move.

Neither politics nor personal feelings or agenda of a college administration should play a part in dictating to the students what and who they can learn from, as long as the source is positive for their learning. There can be no denying that Dr. Carrick has been, and is, a valuable source of learning for thousands of chiropractors.

No surprise here. If you are to deny it be forthcoming with your exact reasoning. We're all adults here.
We at least deserve an honest explanation from administration about their actions.
