Ever wonder why we have to have a license to drive or own a gun but anyone can go into a pet store and buy an animal without knowing anything about them? Most of the animals that are sold at pet stores require a lot of maintenance (lights, big cages/tanks, filters, food, etc.) and money that most people don't even have to feed their owns families. I think that you should be required to prove that you have the money the knowledge and capabilities to provide for the animal before being able to purchase the actual animal.
