I believe the time has come to reevaluate our perception of what's possible in prison reform. Through education, positive programs, and support, human beings are truly capable of extraordinary leaps in consciousness. I myself have experienced this transformation first hand. This petition is a call for consideration and understanding and I support it one hundred percent.

There are so many whom have indeed made mistakes and are remorseful and are still amazing individuals capable of giving back so much to society . Throwing lives away is not the answer not even in the loss of life . One loses their present thinking in times of trauma fear and belief of imminent death ..many homicides take place in this instance 30 seconds of regret. This bill should be considered at least for first time violent offenses. Restorative justice does happen between people and families ... society needs some of these amazing minds . Prison as it is currently is tortuous and inhumane . It does not right a bad act . There is nothing rehabilitative about it . Accountability can and does come in so many other ways that can benefit both society and victims we need to visit those options

In the US 50 percent of the population have a loved one incarsirated. Justice reform is the will of the people. It’s time for the sentate to do the job they were elected to do.

The person I support did not do it, his codefendent did. He has been locked up 32 yrs w 24 yet to go despite being innocent, but MN law says being there equals being the murderer. He is a loving, ethical man. The real murderer got out after only 8 yrs. MN Laws are severely unjust to Lifers, esp those who were just present, not guilty.
