Pride should be for all, not some.

There's no pride in a pride that partners with corporations like Wells Fargo that fund private prisons that are killing Black and Brown trans and queer people. Pride should and has always been led by trans women of color and will not be coopted!

Such insensitivity -- to exclude both Jewish people and young families.

If any event and leadership should be sensitive to including EVERYONE -- including the Jewish Community and youth -- it should be this one. It is such a shame.

The "solution" to scheduling NC Pride on Yom Kippur is none at all and only makes the situation worse. Now us Jews will be blamed for the cancellation of the parade, the most anticipated and attended Pride activity, raising the specter of civilization's oldest scourge towards a group that has been at the forefront of the LGBT civil rights movement for many decades. And to hold the event on the evening of our holiest day of the year where we have fasted for 24 hours and break our fast together with family and friends is further insult and demonstrates the lack of true concern and communication with those most affected. Then to hold it overnight further alienates far too many who have participated in Pride for years and plays into too many LGBT stereotypes. What is going on with the NC Pride leadership?! This really wasn't a difficult issue to resolve, but somehow you've made it worse. NC deserves better.

There can be no pride with disposability and refusing to effectively collaborate with directly affected folks who are asking to be heard is nothing other than disposability. This must be stopped.

I am proud to add my name to this open letter, and grateful to the diverse coalition which crafted it.

I refuse to be part of a Pride event that is not inclusive for all walks of faith or all communities

We must fight white supremacy in all of its forms.

As a Jewish lesbian of long standing in both the Durham and the Beth El Synagogue community, I am pleased to support this petition. Mr. Short has consistently refused to address the issues raised here.

Our community should be SETTING the example on inclusion.

NC Pride's continual refusal to bring trans and QPOC to the forefront of its events is something I am not willing to support. As a Queer Jew, I take this opportunity to advocate not just for my inclusion, but the deliberate inclusion and centering of People of Color and trans folks in future NC Pride programming. Corporate interests and police, due to their hand in institutional oppression of LGBTQ+ people and especially LGBTQ+ PoC, have no place in Pride.

We can't be free unless we're all free. Ignoring the needs of our diverse community sets us all back - especially in the current political climate.

So disappointed in the alienation of so many. Pride should be about coming together y'ALL.
