This proposal is entirely unecessary

Idiotic move to bring in this bus lane given the traffic that needs to use this road

Be better off putting in a cycle path in highwoods, from the tunnel at Broadland estate to north station .

Ridiculous, a bus lane is certainly not necessary!

I'm not opposed to bus lanes in principle, far from it, but this plan to remove the two cycle lanes on Lexden Road to make way for an unnecessary bus lane is driving me round the bend.

There is a direct relationship between traffic congestion on Lexden Road and the safety of children, ie when our pavements are packed at the end of the school day, the traffic slows down and children can cross (and as I have witnessed, also fall onto) the road in greater safety. When the children have gone, the traffic flows freely. With the confluence of so many schools in one area, Lexden Road must be regarded as a special case and not simply engineered into a quick way for buses in or out of the town centre without regard to the safety of its most vulnerable users.

This road is busy enough already

Having used the Lexden Road for many years at various times of the day as my daughters have attended schools in the area I believe that the shared pavement would be an unwise decision on grounds of safety and would cause accidents. My daughters did use buses as well as lifts but I would be concerned that the dangers of this bus lane proposal would outweigh the benefits. Outside of morning school and afternoon school drop offs whenever I have travelled along the Lexden Road the traffic has flowed well.

My daughter attends St Mary's school a I am concerned about the number of children using the bus stop that would need to walk in the road when the pavements are reduced in size. I also live in Lexden Road and do not think that it would improve the current traffic situation.

Will be far more dangerous for everyone and will only speed up traffic for a very short period of the day

This proposal worries me a great deal as a parent of two children who will be using the reduced pavement and crossing the road on a daily basis.

Not an acceptable thing to do, narrow a pathway in a triad of schools!

Concerned over the safety of school children at the end of the day - already very congested in this area, narrowing pavements is dangerous

Again Colchester council trying to ruin the town with pointless changes.

I am opposed to this proposal as I fear for the safety of my daughter and friends at St Mary's School. Come the end of the day she has to await pickup from the bus stop outside. Given the number of children waiting by the road, proposing to narrow the pavement which is already crowded at this time will likely risk someone stepping or falling into the road and oncoming traffic. Please think about the safety of the children.

Unsafe for my daughter going to and leaving school.

There is no need for a bus lane on Lexden Road. Most of the conjestion issues are due to the Balkern Heights roundabout. The buses only really create traffic issues in the afternoon and for about half an hour. This is a dangerous scheme for the thousands of children who walk/cycle on Lexden Road. What is the point of a bus lane which is neither needed not wanted?

Surely overkill for a slight amount of inconvenience during school terms. I am sure we can all think of much better uses for the amount of money this will require, e.g. potholes.
