This is an appalling way to treat this young man - forcing him into a situation clearly likely to cause him immense distress and render him unable to learn. This young man deserves a chance to be supported to thrive in an environment suited to his needs.

This boy needs the school at Lufton - it will benefit him greatly and give the support he needs! It shouldn’t even be discussed for him to go to a mainstream school - teachers in a mainstream school/college sagging do not specialise in autism and related disabilities - don’t set this lovely young man back.
