Allowing active cruelty such as an ripping apart a live exhausted animal with sometimes young at heel is not a British tradition that should be kept. It is vile, outdated and disgusting and does not have any place in this country, especially in the countryside despite what we are told by those sick few who see it as a harmless pastime. I beg to differ. End it now.

It is a disgrace that this county council is condoning the hunt by closing any roads over boxing day to allow the local hunt to promote itself. 80% of citizens in this country voted against hunting with dogs & laws put in place 10 yrs ago. However in spite of this, many, many continue to flout these laws & hunt illegally. Children should not be exposed to the bloodsport that is hunting with dogs particularly during the Christmas holidays.I sincerely hope that the council will reconsider .

By allowing Lewes High Street to be closed for this hunts boxing day meet, Lewes District Council is showing tacit support of the Southdown & Eridge hunt and silent approval of the violent intimidation tactics of their supporters against hunt monitors. At present around 80% of the populace is opposed to fox hunting and to allow this practice goes in opposition to the will of the majority of your constituents. I find it deeply offensive! I do not not to approve the road closure of Lewes High Street on boxing day 2015 and beyond.

The council should not allow the closure of the High Street to any organisation involved in attacks on hunt monitors and possible illegal hunting.

They are supposed to follow scent trails. Do they lay a trail down the High Street? Are the dogs under control? Who pays for the policing?

Fox hunting has been illegal for ten years now. 80% of the population agree with this law. So why is Lewes District Council still allowing the road to close for the benefit of these individuals.

Come on council, drag yourselves into the 21st century. I live here and we don't want to see this hate and horror going on in East Sussex

This hunt and many others are operating as a band of outlaws. I am 70 years old and a retired teacher. I have monitored hunts since 2005. Please do not close a street for a band of oulaws. They are carrying out illegal activities that are judged cruel to animals.

Closing the road for an outdated tradition such as hunting is ludicrous. Nobody cares about it anymore. Put them in a field and let everyone get on with their lives.
