This barbaric practice should be banned totally.As it is illegal the police should be involved in stopping it and not leaving it to the public to deal with these criminals

hunting should not be allowed to continue. It is illegal and anyone allowing it to go ahead should be held accountable.

I have visited Lewes many times and love the way the town has maintained its history. However, the Hunt is representative of an opressive practice, descended, as it is, from the rights of the nobility to ride roughshod over the 'lower classes'. It was, and remains, a display of power and has no place in the modern world. A District Council should not be facilitating and enabling such an anachronistic and disgusting ritual.

I thought fox hunting and any hunting with dogs was illegal? Why are they allowed to blatantly break the law? If council is allowing this then it too is complicate in breaking a law that has been passed banning fox hunting. Am I missing something because last I looked the right to hunt act had not been repealed and therefore is still illegal. Its hypocrisy at work here with one rule for one class and one for another. Public gathering's of over 20 people are not allowed without permission so why is an illegal hunt meet allowed to gather for an illegal purpose? This is flouting the law and so presumably a court order could be served to prevent this hunt meet. If they flout that then they will be fined and possibly imprisoned. Maybe its time to engage the legal processes here.

As its demise draws ever nearer, the hunting fraternity often resorts to violence and intimidation against people who rightly oppose them. Authorities should do everything in their power to distance themselves from the criminal activity of a nasty minority.

Please don't allow the road closure for the Southdown & Eridge fox hunt. As you must be aware fox hunting with hounds is now illegal in England. Hunts including this one are still hunting illegally and by allowing them to parade through Lewes high street you will be supporting an illegal activity. Please do not allow the closure of Lewes High Street. Thank you in avance
