I have 2 vintage lever action rifles. A 22-250 and 30-30. I was devastated to have to hand my grandfathers semi auto .22 at the last buyback as well as my pump action 12 gauge shotgun. Please don't take all of MY guns off me.

Although strongly worded and at times emotional this petition does highlight the growing trend in our society that laws are only relavent to the law abiding. Banning any form of currently legal firearm, a knife, or even a motor vehicle because of criminal activity is akin to banning the use of computers because of hacking and internet fraud and security breaches. Sound ridiculous? Well so is targeting law abiding citizens. Stop making policy according to opinion polls and help re-instate the nation I grew up in!

Lever action firearms have been in Australia for over 100 years without a problem. By banning lever action firearms, there will be absolutely NO change in crime, simply because criminals do not use these types of weapons.

It is about time the people who have a clean slate ( NO criminal offences or domestic violence offences) and have served this great country of ours (putting their lives on the line for all the others to benefit from) either in the Defence Force or Police Forces be allowed to get a gun licence without all the hassles that you have to go through now.
I have car, bike, boat and pilot licences and I am not compelled to have to drive or fly every year-so WHY do I have to shoot every year.
WHY do existing Police Officers and Defence Personnel have to have a gun licence in the first place ?

Between me my brother and my dad we own 4 lever action rifles and to tell you the truth I could fire a bolt action just as fast but We still haven't gone on a shooting spree. So why would you disarm more law abiding citizens. Why not just make it harder to get your gun license in the first place

put more effort into catching the criminals than demonising law abiding gun owners.if you put as much effort into catching gangs as you do catching motorists driving 5km over the limit and screwing sporting shooters the suburbs would be safe.
