Unfortunately another knee jerk reaction to media sensation. You probably see this as a quick way to gain popularity with voters. Don't forget we vote too. 1 vote can make a difference, all we're asking is to be treated fairly.

This one issue is likely to cost the government the next election. The large number of Liberal voters who are firearm owners are so sick of wrongful demonising that the poor performances elsewhere will have little to do with the change of voting by many.

All this even after the recent senate inquiry that proved gun crimes were primarily the result of illegal unregistered and imported firearms. This will do nothing to stop gun crime because NEWSFLASH its not the registered guns being used nor is it a lever action adler 12g nor a .22 pump action. Why are we being treated like criminals. Wake up australian government!!! U wanna stop unnecessary deaths then ban alcohol

Keep your hands off our firearms TONY ABOTT it is the criminals that make it bad for law abiding citizens . Concentrate on closing our borders to immigration and stop Asian countries buying up our land and HELP OUR FARMERS MORE.

I used to have semi auto shot gun, for recreational vermin control and had to hand it in after Port Arthur massacre. It's not the fault of law abiding citizens or registered gun owners on that cause issues in Australia.Try targeting the criminals, the drug dealers, bikie gangs and you will get the results you are seeking.

I've had a leaver action for years a yet I've never once felt like going on a mass killing rampage... good thing there there trying to take it off me before I accidentally do.... wow thanks tony

It started with semi autos. Then it will be all pump actions and then pistols. Eventually you wont even be able to buy a cap gun.
None of these policies will stop criminals getting their hands on firearms. Fix the background checks and psychological exams to make sure that only the people who use them correctly have access.
I dont want my sport destroyed because of hype and fear.

how can one random day our goernment decide that the items I have in legal possession be illegal and if I do not hand them in I am deemed a criminal.
Criminals have no regard for these laws anyway so what's the point
