The council finally backed down and John and Susan are staying on their land. It has been an exhausting fight but seeing this result makes the struggle worth it. I am taking a moment to breathe before we watch to ensure they keep their word.
John and Susan Sutor have quietly lived in a static home on their land in Draycott for over 12 years.
In this time the Council have happily collected their council tax every month and have let them build sheds and greenhouses for their Horticultural business.
Although the site has been lived on for over 25 years the council are now evicting the Sutors giving them the deadline to be out by April 1st 2012 and must demolish their home.
Although the council are evicted them they are not offering the Sutors anywhere alternative to live. They cannot currently afford to rent locally.
Sign this petition to let the council know that local people deserve the right to stay in their village.
Seeing this level of support brings a bit of relief during these long and draining nights. It is exhausting to fight a council that expects us to just walk away but your response confirms that we are not fighting alone.

Ridiculous. They have been good neighbors for over a decade. Leave them alone.

Typical council behavior. Throwing people out onto the street with nowhere to go is just plain cruel.
