Letter to the Board of Trustees of Whittier College - Football, Lacrosse, Golf

I’m not looking to change the President or the Board…. Mistakes get made, and we should fix this one.

Sad state of affairs when no community, alumni, nor faculty input appears to have been solicited. It is. Whittier tradition to provide these D3 opportunities. Please Re insider this decision.

Dumb move to eliminate lacrosse!

Go woke, go broke. As an alum, I am very disappointed in the radical changes this administration is making. Whittier College has been a staple of the community for decades and it is a shame watching it being run into the ground. As an institution of higher education, your objective is to foster the growth of students both academically and extracurricularly. Eliminating sports teams does just the opposite. Shame on this radical president for suggesting such nonsense.

Don’t take away Whittier’s lacrosse and football! The current President wasn’t liked at her last school. They were happy to have her move on. Let’s say goodbye to her instead of these sports programs.

Terrible decision to cancel sport programs. If I am called to donate to the school, I will cite this as a reason for not participating

Wow, discontinuing these sports is a horrible decision. Golf is not that expensive to support and taking out Football and Lacrosse?!!! Might as well be a community college

Reverse this decision immediately. My family and I have supported Whittier College for years and we absolutely disagree with this decision to disband these athletic programs. Shutting down these vital athletic programs denies underserved communities the opportunity to attend this prestigious university utilizing academic scholarships while competing in athletics at Whittier College.

Do not support the decision to dip football, lacrosse and m/w golf. Additionally disappointed in how athletes/coaches tested as announced and lack of inclusion from alumni during the process

please reconsider and let them play.

There are better options for reducing the fiscal deficit. Sports are important

Always giving in isn’t what makes people great. Be bigger and better. This is ridiculous.

The decision the whittier college administration had made is an absolute betrayal to those who have participated in past seasons and those who have had their futures cut short. Unbelievable behavior and as an alumni, it pains me to be apart of a program that was shut down.

Please practice transparency with the alumni and current students. If the college is forecasting financial troubles, please be transparent with us as well.
