Please consider my heartfelt request to include the wisdom and guidance of the many accomplished Kagyu and Ningma teachers such as Thrangu Rinpoche, Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche and Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche.

As one who entered the practices of Shambhala while VCTR was embodied, I remain confused about Why the Kagyu/Nyingma practices and Shambhalian practices were separated at our centers. Although many years of fussing with some dear old dogs about Shambhala practices Not being secular, I do not at all understand why any of the teachings of the VCTR should not find a place to be heard and practiced under one roof.

I think the idea of expanding to committee to include people like Judith Leaf , The Dorje Loppon, Larry Marmelstein, etc is great. What I don't agree with is 1. Some insulting comments about the Sakyong - especially the nature of his neurosis or his lack of realization --- how would these people even know ? 2. As I understand it the VCTR Command given to SMR was to create Shambhala and Enlightened Society - I feel that is what he is doing. He is explicating the Root Text's just as Jamghon Kongtrul explicated Chokgyur Lingpa's texts. There were probably lot's of complaints then too. (I don not even want to think what happenned with Jigme Lingpa's Longchen Nyingthig Terma).

Thank you Bakes for initiating this and all for bringing up all the essential points. It has been sad and frustrating to first have experienced the division when the prorpietary (seems like the best description I've seen) Shambhala occured and then to witness many frustrated people who came to Shambhala looking for buddhism and the Vidyadhara's teachings in addition to Sahmbhala. The current stream which I have heard is based on principles from conflict resolution principles is subject to the availability of local Centre teachers to present them. This means there is not always a good delivery. I appreciate that those skills can help us all but in my opinion it would be better for people to learn those from professionals rather than to "Shambhala-ize" that and have it not be well implemented.

Let the real root of this schism be addressed. Open the windows for fresh air. Unlock any doors so that anyone with any wisdom may enter. Open wounds may heal. Concealed wounds usually fester.

Thank you Bakes. This goes to the deep heartbreak so many of us have felt when the ties to the Buddhist lineages were abandoned, and many of us had to make a choice about leaving our home sangha.

My lifelong practice has been based on the teachings of a lineage that is thousands of years old, brought to me first by Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche in 1972 at Tail of the Tiger. Though a devoted warrior of Shambhala for years, assistant directing all levels numerous times and earning my stripes at Kalapa Assembly in 2000, I was left behind when the organization took to redefining so much of the path in its own proprietary image. Let's honor our Kagyu and Nyingma teachers and place their photographs back on the shrine. May the dharma flourish!

Our roots and stem are the Nyingma and Kagyu teachings from Marpa and Milarepa and onwards to CTR. This tree’s flowers and fruits are the Shambhala teachings and they complement the basis. Nothing can be left out.
