to quietly change what Dylan Thomas wrote: ' go gentle into that good night'
or as Emily Dickinson suggests: 'With explanation kind the truth must dazzle
gradually or every man be blind' . . .

Well said. I would like to see this and some continuity of communications that are more in real time. Once a week or every other week receiving well crafted letters is just too guarded. Speak from the heart dear leaders. First thought best thought. Live the teachings. Lean in.

I completely agree! As wonderful and profoundly perfect as the Shambhala teachings are, Shambhala should embrace and support not only Buddhist traditions but all genuine lineages.

I agree completely with this petition and would go further to suggest that the Sakyong should empower the Dorje Loppon as a full Kagyu lineage holder so that he could take his fathers work forward on the Kagyu path, for those whose devotion lies there. In my opinion, there should never have been an attempt to replace Kagyu with Shambhala. They are not in competition. It would be wonderful if that could be fixed.

May the Namkhyen Banner fly once more in the Land of Kalapa. May it fly all over the world. May Dharma flourish. "May all sentient beings be free of suffering and the root of suffering."

*** put in place a transparent bureaucratic system that deals with grievances.
*** have equal men/woman in high positions
*** go back to CTR's Shambhala root text, as well incl. both Kagyu-Nyingma in overall curricula.
*** the Great Eastern Sun tent is only as successful as is shown in ethnic diversity/wisdom traditions underneath it.
*** reduce spiritual materialism, i.e. reduce costs of programs.
*** adopt stronger financial mgmt. discipline
*** work with both young and old practitioners to arrive at simplicity of Governance. Emphasizing Heart & Smile.

The shameful discarding of an entire generation of seasoned Buddhist/Shambhalian practitioners has perhaps led to this 'current situation'. We need a sangha based on the dharma, with a critical and clear eye on what is happening in the governing body. CTR was very clear in the path he wanted our sangha to take, namely two streams....A Buddhist (Kaygy-Nyingma) and a Shambhala, each led by separate teachers. Since the VROT has died, it is easy to have the Buddhist path led by a group of Vajrayana Senior teachers, with Kagyu and Nyingma Lineage holders coming to teach us again as had been demonstrated by the Vidyadhara in the past. The present Shambhala needs to take a clear look around, admit its faults publicly and begin to make amends for past wrongdoings.

I deeply support the sentiments in this petition. However, I am concerned that that such an invitation, if offered, will prove "too little too late".

When I first entered the community I was accepted for who I was. And no one told me I had to do anything. That put the responsibility on my own shoulders, which I think is right.

It is timely to fearlessly recognize and re-embrace all the teachings, teachers, and students inspired by the broad and vast vision of the Great Eastern Sun
