Letter to Mayor Quan/City Council

Do something about crime before middle class people start to think they have no alternative but to move out of Oakland.

I sincerely hope this will justify including our elevated communities on the Police Department's radar. It has become quite clear that we are now the targeted area for predators who have become too comfortable in the knowledge that the Oakland Hills are a better place to look for victims, without fear of being apprehended, because, unless a ipolice officer lives in our community, there isn't a consistent police presence. Because I'm so "Security Conscious, I've been considering defensive measures to prepare for an assault on my family. More and more we hear of brave citizens standing up, refusing to allow criminals to take over their lives. If our tax dollars aren't being used to protect our families, we're also being victimized by our government!!!

I have lived in the neighborhood for over 26 yrs and have no plans on moving.I am ready to do what we have to do! to make this a safe place to live.

I'm glad our community is coming together to deal with these issues. Hopefully the Mayor and City Council will listen to our call and take action. However, they cannot do it alone, it will take community involvement to bring about change and safety in our communities. Oakland is a wonderful City and is worth saving. We need to turn the tide of criminal activity, he those commiting these crimes accountable, and develop programs to build up and develop our City for the future of our children. Thank you!

As Oakland homeowner and county government worker with office in East oakland also, really would like to see more money directed towards police but also to substantive activities and jobs for young people.

It is heartbreaking to see our neighborhood in decline and to see hard working people in harm's way.

I applaud this petition and it implicitly addresses our concerns about our neighborhood. We have lived on Mirasol Avenue for a little over 30 years and have wonderful neighbors. It saddened us to no end to spend considerable money installing an alarm system

Our community is in dire need of help from the city. We pay our taxes and support community involvement! It is time that we see a return on our commitment to our community from the city of Oakland.

we pay far too many taxes to be plagued by the rampant crime which is only escalating. I resent that we even have to entertain privatized security. we need action now and fast.

Crime is my number one priority for Oakland and our neighborhood. The city government needs to stop with the excuses and take action.

We demand that the City Government take immediately take steps to address the rampant crime in our neighborhoods.

We want to stay in our neighborhood, supporting our friends, neighbors and local businesses and not be driven away by fear.
